sigh....
I’m trying to get some notes down about vampires and heidegger and my mother and grandmother are in the next room shouting out a new rendition of “who’s on first” about the difference between the first floor in american houses and the second floor in english houses. (there isn’t one)
I really wish this house had thicker walls, and that my grandmother would put her...

Very annoying drive down. Visiting family tomorrow. Then I’ll go to some bookstores on tuesday.
Got some interesting ideas while I was driving though. Just hope I can get them written down before they fade away.
I guess that’s all I have to say for now.

existential horror
I got sick of reading Heidegger and Sartre, so I thought I’d get some writing done on a vampire story I’ve been working on for a while. Then suddenly a pile of Heidegger appeared in the story; in such a way that it became essential to the motivations of one of the characters. Now I have to go read more Heidegger just so I’m sure I get it right in the story.
All I wanted to do...

the cost of free hugs
Was downtown today and as I walked home through the Diag I was listening to the latest episode of This American Life. It was about people who take on roles of things they are not just so that they can survive and get by.
As I got to the center in front of the grad library I saw three girls with signs that said “Free Hugs”. I stopped dead in my tracks.
I wanted a hug. I won’t...

Why facebook scares me
I was chatting with someone earlier today about how much sleep I get and how bad my insomnia is. Unfortunately this chat was on facebook. Usually I try to avoid that, but I just happened to see the other person on there and just started talking thinking that a short chat wouldn’t really matter much.
Just now I started noticing ads on several other sites for Sleep Clinics and other sleep...

Random thoughts
Went downtown today because I had to get out of the apartment. Ended up at the University of Michigan Student Union. Sat in one of their comfortable reading rooms and read Heidegger for a few hours. I’ve been hanging out at the union for about two decades now, but lately it’s been kind of depressing. Not just because I’m planning on moving soon. Every time I go there now I...

happy birthday Claire Aniela A. Hope you are doing well.
Watching a documentary about Martin Heidigger. They’re showing his study, including the desk where several of his books were written. There’s a bunch of board games and puzzles stuffed in the desk now. For some reason I find that hilarious.
Got fed up with my name here. Unfortunately some social media company in dubai is squatting on my regular handle, so I had to add a number on the end.
I don’t really know who tom brady is. people keep mentioning his name all over the place. Doesn’t mean anything to me.

I’m in the middle of an argument with someone in my Existentialism class.
He’s saying that being a chistian and accepting Jesus into your heart as your savior are two different things, that you can have one without the other. He says that whether Jesus was divine isn’t important, that one can still be a christian by simply emulating his accomplishments.
I disagree. That Jesus...

Good news: just found out that M83 will be in town
Bad news: just found out that M83 will be in town because a DJ on the radio was ranting about how scalpers bought up all the tickets and are selling them online for $200 each.
